Save the Caribou - Stop the Tar Sands - News Conference

Exciting developments in the efforts to stop the expansion of the tar sands developments, and save the woodland caribou will be announced at this news conference. Members of various First Nations, including the Beaver Lake Cree Nation and Athabasca Chipewyan will attend. Lawyer from Woodward and Company will also be there to explain the issue.

Save the Caribou - Stop the Tar Sands - UK Tour
RAVEN, along with Beaver Lake Cree Nation Chief Al Lameman and
Woodward and Company's Jack Woodward will be touring to London, Manchester and Edinburgh courtesy of the
Cooperative Bank to promote the latest efforts in stopping the expansion of the tar sands developments. In addition to various interviews with UK media, there will be a number of events at which the Chief and Jack Woodward will speak in an effort to raise awareness of the work that has been sponsored by the Coop Bank, and the progress to date.
Among the events planned for the tour:

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 15
Manchester
6.45pm to 9.30pm Tar Wars screening and reception at the Printworks.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 17
Edinburgh
7.30pm – 11.30pm Tar sands talk and reception at Dynamic Earth.

The Nature of Things - 2-hour special on the tar sands

CBC's The Nature of Things, hosted by Dr. David Suzuki, will broadcast a two-hour special on Alberta's tar sands focusing on the downstream effects of the industry, and also including an interview with Jack Woodward explaining the Beaver Lake Cree Nation's legal action and why it stands a chance at stopping the ecologically disastrous expansion of the tar sands industries.
