Have you heard the buzz about the new Earth Week Festival??

It's not very often that you get to be at the start - the very origins - of something destined to be huge.  But RAVEN is getting that chance.  There's a new festival that is going to take the city of Victoria, BC by storm - and then the model could well be replicated in cities across North America.   Before you know it, artists and activists will be uniting regularly to create social change!

The First Annual Creatively United for the Planet Festival will take place from April 20 - 22nd, to coincide with Earth Week.  But this three day extravaganza, filled with events, music, dance and keynotes from people like Ann Mortifee and Robert Bateman, is a 100% volunteer-driven GIVE BACK to more than a dozen non-profits and charities that struggle on shoe-string budgets to do the "hero work" as the festival organizers like to put it.

What is so incredibly cool is that all the artists are also donating their talents and time, so that the funds raised will be divvied up between the charities.  A little financial return for the many hours of work that rarely get recorded on a time sheet.  It's all about good-deed-doers doing good for the community, and for the planet.

So RAVEN wants you to come out if you are on the island - or within easy reach.  It's a few months away yet, and there's lots of time to plan.  We're just so excited to be part of it!  Oh, and from where we sit, one of the big 'heroes' is Frances Litman - the dynamo behind the idea.  She is a well-known photographer who has managed to carve out time, with the help of several devoted volunteers, to make this festival become a reality.

In addition to all the events, we will have a booth there - with staff, board members, volunteers - and we are looking forward to meeting people and sharing our work.

Here's a great poster, designed by local illustrator Nelson Dewey - maybe you can print it and let your children colour it in so they get involved too.  CUFTP tree drawing
